Description / Constipation Occasional
Constipation can occur occasionally when overindulging in certain foods and from periods of inactivity, or from prolonged retention of a bowel movement if you are in a situation in which you are unable to pass one. The more time faecal matter spends in the digestive tract, the more liquid is reabsorbed.
Senna is a herb which has been used for centuries to help move a bowel blockage and resolve an episode of constipation.
This can cause some strong bowel movements, so best taken with some carminative herbs which help to reduce any griping pain that can occur. This can be a chamomile, peppermint, ginger, or fennel tea.
This is best not used on a long-term basis and is only for symptomatic relief. It is important to also address the underlying causes of the recurrent constipation to reduce the occurrence of this occurring.
